What is “quantum grade”?
The term “quantum grade” is based on the terms “electronic grade” and “solar grade,” which are already established in the semiconductor industry. These describe semiconductor raw materials whose chemical purity is sufficiently high to be used for microelectronic applications (electronic grade) or photovoltaics (solar grade). For upcoming future technologies such as quantum computing, isotopic purity must be achieved in the raw material in addition to chemical purity (combined purity: quantum grade).
Market Relevance
Accelerated drug development, the next level of cybersecurity, more precise climate simulations—experts anticipate these and other benefits from the use of quantum computers. The semiconductor-based approach holds the most promise in this regard. However, the global market lacks Silane-28, the key material required for these chips. In nature, it occurs only as stardust in space, formed during a supernova. We have developed and patented a process that allows us to produce this stardust here on Earth. We are the only ones capable of reliably supplying this vital future resource—at the required quality and quantity and at fair prices—directly from the heart of Europe. In doing so, we bolster Europe’s resource sovereignty and technological independence.
Our Products
We are bringing Silan-28 to the global market long-term for the first time. Thanks to a scalable production process, industrial companies can be supplied with material that meets their quality and quantity requirements. Through customized dilution, the semiconductor gase can be flexibly adapted to the specific needs of each customer. We are working on a production line that will enable us to offer order quantities ranging from 200 g to 100 kg.
No other class of materials can match the capabilities of isotopically pure semiconductors. Other potential applications include components for cryogenic optics—such as the mirrors for the Einstein Telescope—as well as X-ray optics in synchrotrons and space technology.
Furthermore, the previous lack of availability means that additional fields of research and potential applications remain untapped.

Our Founding Team
Our three-person founding team consists of Dr. David Uebel, Dr. Owen C. Ernst, and Anne Handschick-Ernst. We bring an interdisciplinary approach, with expertise in silicon chemistry, plant engineering, and communication. We have already received several awards.
Our Vision
Lusatia is the hub for isotopically pure semiconductors. Research, development, and commercial application go hand in hand here—from the first step to the last.
Our Mission
Our mission is to help build a European supply chain for future technologies. These technologies begin with the raw materials from which they are made. As a reliable supplier of isotopically pure semiconductors, we are ready to lay the foundation for the technological future.
